Stevenson Way Summer 2024

In May this year the Stevenson Way organised a five-day guided walk on the island of Mull for two people

Ross of Mull
Magnificent views of the islands

Among the many sights on the Ross of Mull that we walked to were:

Lochbuie with its Eco tea room, shore path with caves that people used to live in, an old sheep farm and the end of the Ross of Mull Coastal Path from Carsaig.

Torr Fada and the interior of the Ross of Mull. Torr Fada is a nature reserve and a high vantage point with spectacular views to distant islands and high mountains. It was so warm that we just felt like lying back and going to sleep.

The island of Erraid where Robert Louis Stevenson stayed and where he had David Balfour land after his shipwreck in the book Kidnapped.

The wonderful coastal path from Carsaig to Lochbuie. A narrow strip of land between high cliffs and the sea where people sailed to the blacksmith at his cave.

The ruined township of Shiaba, full of ancient history and sorrow (due to the potato famine in 1846 and also when villagers were forced off the land).

The centuries old Kilvickeon Chapel, an ancient church and burial place.

This was just the Ross of Mull – there is just so much more of the Stevenson Way to explore!
